What is a good custom MAC address? [closed]

My new notebook has been dropping the WiFi connection infrequently. The reason was, that my PS3 had the same MAC address. I changed the MAC address of my notebook and the WiFi is now stable. At first I just reduced the address' last block by 1, which happened to be the MAC address of another device. I reduced it again and for now it's fine.

In order to avoid conflicts in the future, is there an address range that is safe to use for custom/non-vendor MAC addresses?
